Outdoor Activities
The Ocala National Forest located in North Central Florida, has been called the most famous canoeing destination in Florida, equaled only by the Florida Everglades. Because of the diverse number of lakes and rivers, the numerous types of wildlife encountered and the beauty of 383,000 acres of scenic forest, the entire family can enjoy canoeing. The Buck N Bass Sports Center and Outfitters is located in Salt Springs, Florida, which is in the middle of the OCala National Forest. The staff at Buck N Bass Sports Center and Outfitters would enjoy sharing their experiences and assist in setting up your next canoe outing. They offer canoe rentals and supplies, along with drop off and pick up services. It's fun for the individual or the entire family.
The Florida Trail in the Ocala National Forest is certified as the Florida National Scenic Trail and has been called the "crown jewel" of the Florida Trail System. The trail traverses a range of natural stands of long leaf pines, home to the largest stand of sand pines in the world, other short leafed pines and scattered stands of hardwoods. The trail also skirts open prairies and ponds that are excellent for viewing wildlife. The Buck N Bass Sports Center and Outfitter's has the guides who have traveled these trails and can fit the proper section to the hikers needs. Individuals or families will enjoy the educational trips by our outfitters. We also offer drop off and pick up services. We are an Outfitters Outpost and have in stock all your travel and overnight needs for the trail.
Kayaking
From the dark, slow moving waters of the Ocklawaha River, the crystal clear waters of the 5 mile long Salt Springs Run, the world famous Silver River leading to the head waters at Silver Springs home to the Tarzan movies and glass bottom boats, to the beautiful sunsets and sunrises of Lake Kerr, The Buck N Bass Sports Center and Outfitters staff has you covered. We offer drop off and pick up services, kayak rentals and supplies and the knowledge to inform you on your kayaking adventure.
Camping
The staff at Buck N Bass Sports Center and Outfitters has the latest information on RV and primitive camping in the Ocala National Forest. Camping can be enjoyed during all seasons in the forest. We can direct you to one of three types of campgrounds: developed, primitive and RV. The Buck N Bass Sports Center and Outiftters is located on the grounds of the Elite Resorts RV park and encourages you to contact them directly at http://www.eliteresorts.com for all of the wonderful programs offered for RV campers.
The Buck N Bass Sports Center and Outfitters had no idea of the multitude of "birders" that flock to Florida to see what we take for granted everyday. As owner of Buck N Bass Sports Center and Outiftters, I am personally working on an exciting new program for our bird watching friends. I will share all of my information with you on location and types of birds I have encountered. I only ask that you do the same. We will be glad to let you charter my boat with me as the Captain, USCG certified, and take you to the area lakes to enjoy the exciting view of our Florida birds. Lets face it, "we have always wanted to fly". We have a seven passenger van that we offer for larger bird watching groups.
